Accra Majestics Sports Academy (AMSA) is a volunteer-driven, youth-focused multi-sports community based in Accra, Ghana. We harness the power of sports to empower young people especially those from underserved communities with purpose, discipline and opportunity. Through structured training, mentorship and community engagement, we aim to build not only athletes but also leaders for a better tomorrow.

THE FIRST STEPS – LAYING THE FOUNDATION (2021)
Starting a club from scratch was challenging. With no dedicated facilities, limited equipment, and only a small team of volunteers, the founders:
• Scouted young talent across Accra and surrounding communities
• Partnered with schools, beginning with Odumprala, to introduce rugby league programs
• Recruited volunteer coaches committed to youth empowerment
• Ran training sessions in community fields, focusing on confidence, discipline, and teamwork
The emphasis was always on building culture, relationships, and trust before chasing trophies.
FIRST TOURNAMENTS – TOUCH, 9S & 13S (2022)
In a historic moment for Ghanaian sport, Majestics became one of the first clubs to field men’s, women’s, and youth teams in its inaugural rugby league season. That bold statement of inclusivity and ambition marked the club as a new force – one driven by purpose as much as performance.
By 2022, the club was ready for competitive play. Accra Majestics made a historic mark in Ghanaian rugby:
• Touch Rugby: Men, women, and youth teams participated
• Rugby League 9s: Men and youth teams competed
• Rugby League 13s: Men and youth teams competed
These first tournaments were not just competitions — they were learning experiences, setting the foundation for the academy’s approach to sport, development, and community impact.
BUILDING SCHOOL RUGBY PROGRAMS (2021‑2023)
Even as competitions began, the club prioritized grassroots growth. Starting with Odumprala and other schools, rugby league programs were introduced to students, teaching:
• Fundamentals of rugby and athletic skills
• Teamwork, leadership, and resilience
• Positive life habits and character development
The school programs created pathways for young athletes to join the academy, nurturing both talent and personal growth.
EXPANDING INTO A FULL ACADEMY (2023)
In 2023, Accra Majestics officially expanded from a rugby league club into a full sports academy, broadening its mission:
• Structured training for men, women, and youth across multiple sports
• Expansion of grassroots and school programs
• Stronger volunteer and coaching frameworks
This step transformed the club into an institution for sport and youth development, solidifying its role as a leader in Ghanaian sports.
COMPETITIVE SUCCESS & RESILIENCE (2024)
After a pause in 2023 due to circumstances beyond control, Accra Majestics returned in 2024 stronger than ever.
Rugby League Achievements:
• Men’s 13s: 4th place
• Rugby League 9s: Women competed for the first time; men & youth competed for the second time
• Youth team: 2nd place in 9s tournament
The academy’s competitive growth reflected its resilience, dedication, and focus on developing athletes who can perform at high levels.
Rugby Union Expansion:
• 7s competitions (2024 & 2025)
• 10s tournaments (2025)
• 15s competitions (2024)
• 3rd place — Central Region 10s Tournament (2025)
NATIONAL RECOGNITION & PLAYER CALL‑UPS
Accra Majestics players have earned spots in national teams, showcasing the academy’s ability to develop talent ready for higher honours.
• Men and youth players received national team call-ups in rugby league and union pathways
• School programs continue to identify and nurture future national athletes
LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY IMPACT
Founders Rachel and Khalil have shaped the academy’s values and vision:
• Rachel continues as Director of Corporate Communications for the Ghana Rugby Football Union
• In 2025, Rachel was named among 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports, recognising her leadership and advocacy
• Khalil’s strategic guidance ensures sustainability, partnerships, and community engagement remain at the academy’s core.
